M4T introduction is a 6-week course that will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to navigate a Moodle course and access resources, activities, and blocks from a student perspective as well as to practice the the same resources, activities, and blocks as teachers.
The aim of the course is to offer participants the opportunity to engage in social learning and develop lifelong learning skills. The course provides opportunities for learners to engage in the content with peers and the instructor as they learn about online learning and how to facilitate online classes with Moodle. The facilitators role is to facilitate and guide the participants in the process of learning and encourage independent lifelong learning skills.
The workshop includes both asynchronous (not dependent on time) and synchronous (time dependent) learning environments. The asynchronous classes are conducted on the Moodle and the synchronous classes will be conducted on WizIQ within the Moodle. Participants will read tutorials, participate in discussions and practice in individual sections as teachers in week 2 of the course.
The goal of the introduction course for Moodle is to prepare students for learning in an online environment. Participants will learn to understand and practice the elements of online learning from the student and teacher's perspectives so they can prepare future courses with the learner and teacher in mind.
The M4T introduction course is an intensive 6-week course designed to engage the participant in theoretical and practical aspects of online learning with a Learning and Course Management System called Moodle. Participants will be introduced to the Moodle philosophy and course tools. By successfully completing the program the learner will have acquired the knowledge and practiced the skills needed to successfully communicate and collaborate in an online learning environment.
In the course, each participant will practice working as a "student" and “teacher” with the resources and activities provided in the learning management system of Moodle.
You will learn how to:
- Navigate around the Moodle site and course area
- View participant profiles, blogs and course activities log
- Change their password and edit their profile
- Post entries in forums
- View different types of course resources
- Access and complete a number of different types of activities / blocks
- Practice the Moodle features as a teacher in a course section.
M4T introduction course requires participants to be active at least 5 hours a week (excluding the live online class) on theoretical and practical aspects of online learning by participating in discussions and completing assignments. M4T introduction course will include asynchronous (via Moodle - a course management system) and synchronous (via WizIQ - a web conferencing tool) components. The live online class will take place once a week. Participants will be able to access the video recording of each of the classes.
